About Global Service Associates
A Community of Servants in Mission
Global Service Associates is a dispersed missional community in the tradition of Christian, active-life orders throughout history. Our kingdom-focused leaders serve in various ministries, from ones focused on discipleship and church-building to others focused on social justice and micro-enterprise.
While most traditional mission organizations and NGOs focus on accomplishing specific objectives, Global Service Associates focuses on giving missionaries, church planters, counselors, pastors, and others the freedom to pursue their God-given vision and calling in ministry.
We are formally known as the “Order of Global Servants,” and, as a project of the “Global Service Office,” are recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 religious non-profit.
Our members are free to raise funds, hire staff and reimburse related expenses to support their ministries. We have relatively little overhead and no headquarters so more than 90 percent of every donation goes directly to fund member ministries and projects.
Our order is overseen by a governing board and member leaders, including Kevin Colón, our General Manager.

Our Community
We are a community of servants in Christ. We are committed to the mission of God, to living out the great commandment, and walking in the Holy Spirit. We grant each other freedom to pursue our individual God-given dreams and calling regardless of form or function. We live empowered as Members of a Holy Order. We are Clergy and full-time Ministers of the Gospel with Apostolic Calling.
How We Live in Community
As a community of servants in mission we are committed to providing for each other encouragement and freedom so that we can live out our God-given passion for ministry. We do that by connecting with each other, praying for each other, and sharing our experiences and expertise with one another.
"We believe the historic creeds of the Christian faith, namely the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed, and are in accord with the Lausanne Covenant. We are not affiliated with any particular Christian denomination or church to allow our members to cross boundaries and build bridges in Jesus’ name."

Dick Durant
Dick Durant was one of the original board members for GSA and has served on the board for more than thirty years. He has served as a leadership and organizational consultant to Christian ministries, other non-profits, and businesses since 1988.
Dick is Vice President of Levasis, an organization that provides consulting services primarily to start-up and turn-around non-profit organizations.
Prior to 1988, He served for 14 years with Cru. Dick earned a MBA from UCLA, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from International School of Theology, and a B.S. in Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Married since 1981 to Brenda, they live in Redlands, California. They are very active in their local church. Dick and Brenda have three grown children and three grandchildren.
Bruce McCluggage
Bruce is a former Campus Crusade for Christ staff member who served in California, Washington, Idaho, and several Pacific Rim countries. He brought decades of college campus ministry experience to his work with Christian Futures Network, a consulting ministry to church and community leaders.
He is currently a full-time instructor of philosophy at Pikes Peak Community College and an adjunct instructor at other Colorado Springs, Colo., colleges.
He used to teach the worldview class at UC-Berkeley, and when he directed the campus ministry at UC-Berkeley, he helped pioneer the 1998 and 1999 Berkeley Postmodern Summer Projects.
Bruce received his M.A. in intercultural studies from Fuller Seminary. He is married with four children.
Liz Swanson
Liz grew up in Southern California where she spent most of her free time hanging out at the beach. That changed when she moved away from the beach to the mountains after college.
She earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Human Communications.
Her diverse employment background includes teaching at FRCC as well as at CSU. She was the director of Relationship Research for Tango Investment Company, here in Boulder, where she conducted over 1500 interviews asking, “What contributes to healthy relationships?”
As a National Community Director for Leadership Network, Dallas Texas,
she designed and facilitated five National Leadership Community Groups focusing on how churches can help their congregations as well as their communities heal from addictions.
In her most recent job, she worked as a certified guide for Forte, a mental wellness platform
In every endeavor, Liz’s focus has been on ways to contribute to the health and welfare of individuals as well as communities.
Liz is now a chaplain for the Boulder Police Department. She, her husband Eric, and their extremely spoiled little doodle live in Longmont when they’re not traveling to their next great adventure.
Jay Gary
Jay Gary, PhD, is an entrepreneur, educator, and futurist, who serves as an Associate Professor of Adaptive Leadership at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, OK. He launched their Doctor of Strategic Leadership degree in 2022. He is a founding member of the Association of Professional Futurists and is considered the "Dean of Foresight" in helping organizations position themselves for 21st century innovation.

As a disbursed community of servants in mission, Global Service Associates centers around commitments to historic Christian creeds and the calling of members to follow their God-given vocation in service to others.
At the same time, we allow room for members to hold different perspectives on political, theological, and social issues. The views individual members choose to express via published interviews, social media platforms, or public speaking engagements are their own and don't necessarily reflect the view of GSA as an organization. As members serve, we encourage them to appreciate and listen to others, to build bridges for the common good, to speak with consideration and understanding, and to focus on the transcendent purposes of God in the outcomes of their service.
