Christian Kumpost
Hi, I’m Christian. I'm a single dad, a former college philosophy instructor, a trauma-informed spiritual teacher, “freelance” reverend, trained chaplain, and a content creator/contributor for various publications and outlets—all rolled up and disguised in something that looks more akin to the neighborhood handyman (which I also am) than all the other descriptors. My ministry is one of presence: meeting people exactly where they are, creating spaces where authenticity and vulnerability are holy, and healing is possible. I'm a trained chaplain with scars written in ink and story—marked on my skin from trauma and on my soul from redemption.
My calling isn’t to a specific population, but to the marginalized: the seekers, the misfits, the wounded, the doubters who’ve been told they don’t belong. The ones who’ve been told they’re too much or not enough. My ministry flows from real connection—heart to heart, life to life—creating sacred spaces where raw honesty is honored and healing takes root.
Drawing from philosophy, chaplaincy, writing, and lived experience, I stand at the crossroads of spirituality, psychology, and cultural inquiry. I’ve taught college philosophy courses from ethics to logic and critical thinking, counseled the grief-stricken, performed and spoken everywhere from sanctuaries to academic settings to dive bars, and walked alongside people through their darkest nights. My path has carried me through trauma and toward hope—and I carry each scar not as brokenness, but as testimony that this story is far from over.
I am a contributor to outlets like Rebelle Society and the Institute of Art & Ideas, and I’m working on my first book—Beauty Tips From a Seminary Dropout—a theology for those of us that are more...unpolished. I’m not only a theologian and guide, but a culture-lover, question-asker, and a man learning to live—fully and freely.
Now, with the help of GSA, I’m discerning and developing my unique mission field: “Soulcare in the Margins.” It’s not about reaching everyone—it’s about reaching those who feel unseen. Whether I’m teaching, speaking, listening, or simply being present, my joy is in helping people rediscover worth, wonder, and their place in story again. And I am so looking forward to how that takes real shape.
Why now? Because this calling has found clarity. The scars have healed into purpose. The wildness of John the Baptist’s cry and Don Quixote’s impossible dream echo in my bones. I’ve carried their vision—to declare beauty, to champion the vulnerable, to chase the impossible star.
Why me? Because I don’t preach perfect; I choose presence. Not polished assent, but imperfect honesty. Not parachurch programs—but soul encounters. I can become all things to all people—but most of all, I become me—a father, a wounded healer, a questioner who dares to remain hopeful.
If you’ve ever felt like a stranger in your own life, this ministry is for you. And if you’re the kind of person who believes grace still grows in unexpected places, I’d be honored to walk this journey with your support.
Your support empowers real-time ministry, unpaid pastoral care to people desperate for someone to see them, to create brave spaces where people can rediscover what’s sacred in themselves and in the world. It sustains a household as I pursue writing, teaching, and community building. Your support helps me not only serve others but sustain my own small family. As a full-time single dad, every dollar makes a difference in enabling this work to flourish without sacrificing the care my kids need. It honours grit and grace, risk and resurrection. If my story resonates, I invite you to walk alongside this unfolding mission.
