Debbie Haliday

Debbie oversees the ministry of Restoration Sports. This work is focused on living out Isaiah 58 in the context of sports. One aspect of the ministry is Jugamos—sponsoring camps and clinics for underprivileged children in the United States, Mexico and Central America. Restoration Sports also sponsors weekend contemplative retreats for women in sport.

Debbie worked as Program Director for UCLA women’s basketball from 2013-2019. Her duties included mentoring student athletes, overseeing social media, camps and clinics, community service and assisting with team building.

In 2017 she completed licensing requirements for Spiritual Direction from Mt. St. Mary’s University in Southern California. She is a practicing Spiritual Director. She also has her master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine.

Prior to serving at UCLA, Haliday coached girls’ high school basketball for 25 years and was a K-12 athletic director. She has been a Christian school teacher as well, primarily teaching middle and high school Bible. From 1996-2007 she served as the Regional Camp Director for Southern California Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Haliday was also the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Biola University from 1990-1995.

As a student athlete at UCLA, Haliday competed on both the women’s basketball and softball teams, earning National Championships in both sports in 1978. She was an All-Regional second baseman and All-Conference guard. She graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

Haliday currently lives with her husband Lance in Northern California. They are blessed to have three adult children—Matthew, Ryan and Bethany.
