Mary Campbell
I am passionate about the benefits that nature and animals have on people's well-being: mental, physical, and emotional. I work to create a community around my farm that is welcoming, joyful, and provides opportunities for people to experience the fragrance of Christ and his kingdom. I want to embody the humility and wonder that come from knowing Him and enjoying his creation.
I studied Pre-Vet/Animal Science at UMass Amherst and worked in various roles such as vet tech, research technician, and horseback riding instructor. My husband and I then joined a mission organization as campus ministers, mentoring and discipling college students, as well as deepening our own knowledge of the Bible and our understanding of God’s endless love and grace. Â
Now as both of my children have left the nest, I am going back to school for my Master’s in mental health counseling to eventually do animal-assisted therapy. I bring people into contact with the natural world and with each other in community. I am learning about the vast benefits of interpersonal neurobiology and the physical, emotional, and psychological truth that - it is not good for man to be alone.
I have animals of all types for people to experience and love. Misty is my haflinger pony that does lessons and her two friends are Cocoa and Buttercup. These Shetland ponies are perfect for smaller children to ride and to learn to build a partnership with horses. I have three bunnies and three Nigerian dwarf goats who give us kids every year. The chicks are a bit hit in spring and grow so fast!
My desire is to have a funding base to support my efforts to build community with farm events, horseback riding lessons, and eventually therapy. I plan to sustain the farm and receive a salary through a combination of paid lessons and fundraising so I can have a sliding scale and no one is blocked from enjoying this community! Pray for those who encounter my animals, each other, and God through his creation!
